The Makelby Commercial Agro project in Ghana is one of the subsidiaries of the Makelby International Conglomerates, focusing on agricultural industrialization and integrated value chains across Africa and beyond. Makelby has been a key player in numerous flagship agricultural projects under the auspices of the Government of Ghana and various international development agencies such as the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Experience

Since 2009, Makelby has successfully undertaken a Rice Project in Atebubu, funded by the African Development Bank in collaboration with the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. This project has also been replicated in Akim-Oda. Additionally, we have partnered with the FAO to implement an animal husbandry project in Ghana. Over the years, our operations have expanded to include fish farming in the Northern Region of Ghana and a 2000-acre land development project at Afram Plains.

Vision

Through this project, Malkelby seeks to contribute immensely to ensuring food security for Ghana, the subregion, and the international community, while also helping to reduce the national import bill for food commodities, scale up exports, create over 100,000 jobs in the entire agro value chain, and earn foreign exchange through exports of semi-finished and finished goods to the African subregion and overseas.
